I cannot believe that I had not shot a picture the whole of this year, Today marks my first official Outfit post of 2017.  and can you believe it? its been way too long! I am currently unemployed, a crazy sentence to write after working for one of the biggest Fashion Magazines in Kenya. It is a little crazier because I also moved out of my parents home and life just got real.

It’s funny how sometimes you think you know what you want and that the crazy chaotic routine that you have found yourself in is the best thing for you when all of a sudden you hear somebody say ONE little thing and it changes your perspective forever.
My family and friends have constantly told me I have potential to be bigger than what i dream about but being the doubting Thomas that I am, I didn’t believe it. Having worked for Zumi really opened my eyes as I got to learn how being an entrepreneur really works.  I am grateful to have gotten that opportunity as its what prompted me to do what I’m doing now.

I’m sure over the next while I will start to post more behind the scenes and “day in the life” type of posts so you can get a better feel for what I do both for me and Nairobi Streetstyle.

As much as this has been the most terrifying thing I have done,  I can’t wait to see what can evolve from who I am now to what I will be in the future. Time and time again I am blown away by the opportunities that the internet is bringing to this generation and I am so fortunate to be able to sit here in my work out clothes at 12;40 pm on my bed counter on Friday, not stressed because a new work week is upon us, but truly excited about the work ahead.

It wouldn’t be fair if I pretended that I get to do what I do because of what I have done – it is only because of you YOU, the readers, and supporters who have allowed this to become my full-time job. Without any of you, this would be a big ole giant diary that is locked in a nightstand with nobody but myself tuning in to see all of life’s happenings. So thank you, thank you, thank you, for making this all happen.

Now on to this outfit. When you’re experiencing a heat wave like woah, the only acceptable thing to do is got to the pool and throw a party . Luckily, one of my friends has one at their place and so I had the perf excuse to do a shoot.

When dressing for one, start with a bathing suit. Even if you swear you’re not swimming or the crowd seems way too sophisticated for those types of shenanigans,, someone will inevitably jump or more likely throw/get thrown in the pool, and others will join.

Splashing will occur, and you will be glad even if you don’t end up jumping in that you have something waterproof on. Also, you don’t want to look like a total party pooper now do you?

Oufit Details

Jacket: Levis

Sunglasses: Thrifted (Near USIU)

Bikini: Xhilration

Shorts: H & M (Previously pants DIY to shorts)

Not wearing a bathing suit to a pool party is like not dressing up for a costume party. Don’t be that girl. On top, you can go with a glorified cover-up aka my denim jacket , incorporate your suit into your outfit like substituting a crop top for your bikini top, or spiff things up with a sundress, romper, or cute shorts.

Normally, the idea of wet jeans sends a shiver down my spine but after shooting this I noticed as long as you dont get it wet, you will be good to go. I went with my usual denim on denim and I loved it.

Denim on denim is not a crime — it’s a fashion statement. For every season, every weather condition and every color, denim is by far the ultimate clothing material. Next time you see someone wearing blue jeans and a denim jacket, compliment them on a job well done. It will probably be me.

What would you wear in a pool party? Feel free to let me know in the comment section below.
