Something about the cold and how we dress makes this season, and us with it, look like a scene from a movie. With leaves on the ground, trees shedding, sun & rain altogether, windy cool weather, crispy mornings, heads tucked in collars, hands fidgeting in pockets, sipping hot drinks in ArtCaffé or any other posh restaurants in Nairobi’s rushed cold mornings almost always wearing SWEATERS! With the winter weather quickly approaching but still not there it is time to start digging out all of our thick knits that keep us warm during these cold months. I have been hunting for almost a year but luckily Migalusia heard my silent prayers and got me, not only one, but two warm beautiful colored ones.
Growing up, I remember how much I used to hate wearing any type of sweater that my mom used to lay out for me. In fact my mum used to hand knit each and every one of them. She used to pay with designs and colors and so you could spot me from a mile away the only problem with them was that I scratching my neck from the itching fabric. But my mom… bless her, would always say ‘better safe than sorry’ so you get why for quite some time, I disliked sweaters of any kind. It was only until I grew up (well, that’s debatable), that I found myself embracing their look. And utility.
I think sweaters have become a major look for the past years, and are having their 5 minutes of fame for a while now. Which is fantastic! A chunky sweater will save you a lot of time while putting together an outfit during cold season. Trend wise – today – seems to me that all is in. Sort of. It’s more about minimalistic pastels, monochromatic sweaters, softer fabrics, muted colors (grey, nudes, whites, blues, and pinks), with chunky, cable knit and oversized designs still running the show. I paired mine with a nude male chino pants and nude boots just to tone down the color. For a pop of color I added my Aztec colorful sweater and Zara bag that complements it and voila, warm outfit complete.
This was one of the funnest shoots Ive done with Vince as we had located the shoot location before but had experienced some difficulti3s. the pictures came out so well and so I have many more sweaters to go through with different designs and colors that should suffice for this cold weather. I hope y’all like the outfit as much as I do.
Lots of Love
