I am slowly getting back into the little things that made me love blogging like photography. Currently, I’m in pursuit of becoming a flat lay queen, here is my first attempt.

Prepping your skin before putting on your foundation is a major step. Face primer is the first and most important step to achieving the perfect base for a smooth and long-lasting makeup look finish right after applying moisturizer.

If you’ve tried primer before and haven’t seen great results, the chances are that you didn’t choose the right one for your skin type. Like any makeup or skincare, using the correct primer for your skin is essential to achieving the best results.

Luckily, today that is what we will be talking about in order to help you find your perfect primer match that I have tried and tested so that you can experience sensational skin all day long.

  Most common primer mistakes?

Applying makeup too soon afterward.  You want to wait a full minute or more to allow the primer to dry completely before going in with makeup, as this will help to curb pilling or patchiness.

My favorite make up primers

The Mattifying primer

1. Benefit The POREfessional Face Primer

This primer is a true moisturizer for oily skin. The POREfessional’s translucent, oil-free formula complements all skin tones if you would like to create a smooth canvas and mattify shine.

The formula also contains vitamin E, which is known to protect the skin. I love it because it mattifies and totally hides the look of pores.

The Dewy Primer

2. Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Radiance

This moisturizing primer gives the skin a wet-looking glow that is perfect for those days when your skin is looking dry or dull, or simply anyone that needs a glowy pick-me-up.

It helps makeup glide on easily and last longer, so your look stays fresh and color-true for hours. The gel formula is enriched with moisturizing ingredients like castor and jojoba oils making it excellent for all skin types, except for the very oily.

The Everyday primer

3. Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea

There is so much goodness in this facial mist. If I feel like my skin is looking dull or tired, then this is what I pick up. With an infusion of Cucumber and Peppermint Essential Waters, this facial mist delivers a cooling boost of hydration as Green Tea provides powerful antioxidant protection—leaving the skin feeling refreshed and revitalized.

To give your makeup a dewy finish, spritz your favorite brush or sponge before blending in foundation or concealer. Once you’re done, mist your face as a final step to add radiance.

For an extra refreshing and cooling boost, store the bottle in your refrigerator.

I hope its post has helped you learn more about makeup primer. Regardless, before choosing a primer do your research, get recommendations, and try different formulas in store.

Stay stylish

There are a million ways to wear a little white dress , but as mentioned before, I am loving the dress and sneaker combo lately and on this particular day this white sneakers and brown cross body bag were the perfect accessories!

This dress is super comfortable, light but perfectly lined, and has the right amount of lace trim. I’m wearing a size small for reference and it fits like a glove!

Being comfortable, along with looking absolutely adorable, is really important for me. I wore this really cute dress a few months while in Dubai. It kept me cool in the hot weather as well as stylish.

I am a sucker for the new footwear trend that’s equally versatile and comfortable. Whether you’re wearing old school Adidas, modern Nikes, classic Supergas or trusty Converse sneakers, there’s no doubt that you can wear white sneakers in so many different ways.

I love an all white outfit; it looks so fresh and modern. This particular look is  ideal to wear for a busy weekend spent out and about or a casual lunch with the girls.

Dress: Next

Sunglasses: Kadenyi Pop Up Shop

Watch: Casio

Bag: DKNY

Shoes: Adidas Neo

On accesories, I kept it very minimal by only wearing hints of black gold and grey  with my sunglasses, choker, the vintage watch and rings.

You want to enjoy your day with your friends and family, so make sure the dress doesn’t get in the way of that!

Stay Stylish,

This vintage faux fur coat, circa 1980’s/1990’s (my guess) was the best Thrift find ever! I have been looking for 2-3 years for the perfect pop of color faux fur coat. So I was thrilled to find this one. The reason I took 2-3 years to find a coat is because the fit of faux fur needs to be spot on with your body type, otherwise you run the risk of looking like a Rugby player with massive shoulders 😉

Photographer: Vince Oyolo

A bold color is the perfect cover-up for a faux fur jacket. Not that there is any shame to wearing faux fur but it isn’t it more awesome for someone to notice an amazing color and not a less than fab feeling coat?

A few months back, one of my good friends and Kenyas fastest growing rapper Barak Jacuzzi had his first 90’s themed vintage party I had to pull it out. It’s hard to muster up the creativity to think of new outfits when it’s so cold out, since all I want to do is hide underneath my duvet.

Having some fun with different coats is my way to play with my style, and this vintage faux-fur jacket is no exception. Faux fur is everywhere nowadays, but what drew me to this jacket is the quality – it’s so soft, it keeps me warm, and doesn’t look cheap at all!

Styling faux fur is just as important as styling the plain white tee. It needs to fit well, not be too baggy that you look bigger, but tailored in all the right places. Although this will look fab with a dress, it’s best to play down the drama of a faux fur maxi with skinny trousers and instead of the classic heels, i played around with some converse.

On regards to length, The shorter fur coats look funky, the mid length ones look classy, the long ones look super dramatic (personally I do not like those). Choose yours according to your style.

Why VINTAGE? They did make them better back in the day, from cuts to colors. Besides, the vintage feel is perfect for this 70s-in-today look. I feel like the best vintage brown coat is definitely the one slightly over your bum, hips-length, perfect for day and night, for casual or elegant looks, with side pockets and a classic collar.

Regarding real fur. I say no. If you do not live in a country where it is freezing cold, then you also probably do not need a real fur coat at all. If you live in a super cold country and you want to buy fur to keep you warm (but there are also synthetic options for this purpose), remember that fur is meant for a lifetime. It would be a shame to buy a fur coat and toss it the season after.

There’s nothing like a striped button-down shirtThey’re cool, classic, and fit just about any personal style.  I found this perfect white and red one that I think I kept simple with these ripped jeans and sneakers.

Vintage looking striped button downs are my current go-to. I wear it for all occasions, from lunch meetings to a night out with my friends! It’s not a shirt you only wear to work or job interviews anymore. They’re so easy to style which is why I always resort to a striped shirt whenever I’m in a rush plus striped shirts instantly make you look polished!

It has taken me some time to ‘get’ the trend and not because I want to wear the real thing but more because I wasn’t sure of the faux staying power. I’m a classic soul deep down and as much as I want to be fashionable I do tend to err on the side of caution.

Are you feeling the faux fur trend?  Could you see yourself wearing a vintage style coat like this, or is is bordering on a bit ridiculous – I’ll admit when I first tried it on I felt a bit pimpish, but that’s part of the fun!

Stay Stylish,

Kadenyi

If you normally don’t wear much color, try to sneak some in with your accessories or shoes.By this I mean adding a bright solid or printed scarf, some colored jewelry or just simply your shoes!

For me, I did this with my mint green pants.I wanted the outfit to enhance the pattern on the shirt as the shirt was the main focus point.I added in more color to the outfit with colored jewelry. That is the African bangles  and the gold watch and necklace. My sunglasses are brown but have a minimal gold and animal print to them which just continues adding to the scheme going on.

My shoes was the last of it, because they are nude, They complement the shirt and also add class to it the entire outfit. I tied my hair into a side bun and voilà outfit done.

PS: You don’t always have to match all the colors in an outfit. Just make sure that when you do mix colors they are complementary.

Remember me saying I will be doing a mixture of old and new shoots? Well here is my first ever fashion street style shoot as a fashion blogger. I was really nervous and wanted to make an impressive introduction to my style as it is quite different to what people wear. I had just gotten this skirt and shoes and was looking for the perfect combination to make it work. I think my roomie and Bella saw me change into 50 variations of the skirt and top before I settled on this one. I absolutely love this outfit and would wear it pretty much anywhere.

The shoot was done in Nairobi town with my some of my best friends Ivy and Edwin (Yes i have so many of them) who were also just starting out there Photography Company and so it was new to all of us. I found the whole experience awkward as I had two photographers with me and everyone thought I was a celebrity and would stop and stare at me.

Surprisingly we finished the shoot in less than an hour and i remember being so impressed, (little did i know thats how long shoots take) the pictures came out the same week but my laptop crashed and I ended up not posting them. I happened to fix the old laptop and got this pictures and decided it would make a perfect Flash back Saturday post. So here are the pictures, hope you like them too
